US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle arrived in a Cadillac Limousine at Taj Mahal Hotel, where they will be staying during their Mumbai visit. At the Hotel Taj, the President is expected to pay homage to the victims and sign the guest book at the 26/11 memorial in the hotel lobby. He will also give his opening remarks at a special function to be held in the Hotel Taj. At Taj, President Obama will also be meeting the survivors and heroes of 26/11 attacks including Railway announcer Vishnu Zende, whose presence of mind during the deadly attacks saved hundreds of lives at the CST station. The presidential suite where the President and his wife are staying is on the sixth floor of the Palace wing of the seafront hotel which underwent a massive 175 crore rupee refit after it was damaged during the 60-hour siege that began on November 26, 2008. The suit also offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India.Nearly 5,000 security personnel, including US security men, Indian Intelligence officials and elite commandos have been deployed in south Mumbai alone as all venues on the itinerary of the US President fall in this region. Police has installed 16 CCTV cameras outside the Taj hotel in order to ensure flawless surveillance. The Gateway of India sea front has been sanitised and all the services of the boats have been suspended. The Navy and Air Force have intensified patrolling along the Mumbai coastline and its airspace during President Obama's stay. Eleven roads close to the Taj Mahal Hotel will remain closed till 4pm tomorrow. Bursting of fire crackers is also not allowed around the Taj and other areas categorised as restricted ones for the high-profile visit.Later in the afternoon, the US President, who is the follower of Gandhian philosophy, will visit the Gandhi Museum at Mani Bhawan to honour the memory of the father of the nation. In the evening he will attend a business summit organised by the US-India Business Council, participate in a roundtable with entrepreneurs and US CEOs and deliver a speech at Hotel Trident, another target of 26/11 attack.
