US President Barack Obama arrived at the Chhatrapati International Airport in Mumbai this afternoon on the first leg of his 3-day India visit. A red carpet was rolled out as Barrack Obama and the first lady Michelle Obama alighted from the US Airforce One plane. President Obama and First Lady Michelle were welcomed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan, who shook hands with the President and gave a bouquet of flowers to the first lady. State Protocol Minister Mr. Suresh Shetty and Union Minister Mr. Salman Khurshid were also present at the airport along with the Indian and American Ambassadors. Waving to the enthusiastic gathering at the airport, the President and First Lady Michelle then boarded a US chopper from the airport to INS Shikra, a naval air station and helicopter base in South Mumbai. President Obama will proceed in his Cadillac Limousine for the Taj Hotel at the Gate Way of India, where he will be staying during his Mumbai visit. At Taj hotel, President Obama will pay his respects to the victims and sign the guest book at the 26/11 memorial in the hotel lobby. He will then give his opening remarks to commemorate 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Later in the afternoon, the US President, who is the follower of Gandhian philosophy, will visit the Gandhi Museum at Mani Bhawan to honour the memory of the father of the nation. In the evening he will attend a business summit organised by the US-India Business Council, participate in a roundtable with entrepreneurs and US CEOs and deliver a speech at Hotel Trident, another target of 26/11 attack. A multi-tier security has been put in place for President Obama's visit.
