O.Panneerselvam replaces Jayalalithaa as TN CM

Tamilnadu Governor Dr. K.Rosaiah administered the oath of office for the new Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam. Followed by him, 31 Ministers took the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan yesterday. It was a low key affair as the entire cabinet was sworn in after AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa lost her position as the member of legislative assembly and the chief ministership.

Most of the ministers were visibly shaken and tears rolled down their eyes when they took the oath of office. AIADMK MLA, MPs and local body members sat in protest in various places across the State. Emotions run high in the AIADMK camp even as they are waiting for the release of the AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa.

Meanwhile, the criminal revision petition seeking bail for Jayalalitha has been listed for admission today before the vacation bench of Justice Rathnakala in Karnataka High court. The other three convicts Sasikala Natarajan, VN Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi have also moved the High Court for bail in the disproportionate assets case. A special court in Bangalore had on last Saturday convicted them under prevention of corruption act sentencing each one of them of four years imprisonment. The vacation bench will hear the merit of the case today and may direct the special public prosecutor to file objections.
On the other hand Jayalalitha complained of discomfort today and a doctor from a private hospital was called to check her health in the central jail.
