NZ end Day 4 at 93/4, need 341 runs to win

Chasing a daunting target of 434 runs, at the end of the 4th day's play of the 1st Test at Kanpur, New Zealand were 93 for 4 in their 2nd innings against India. They still need 341 runs. Luke Ronchi on 38 and Mitchel Santner on 8 were at the crease at the stumps. Hosts declared their second inning at 377 runs for 5 wickets yesterday. Earlier New Zealand were all out for 262. In the first innings, hosts were all out for 318.India now positioned themselves for a massive win in their 500th cricket Test by polishing off the New Zealand top-order. The Black Caps require a history-defying effort to winthe Test as no team has ever chased such a big target. India has start the series just one point behind Pakistan, and they are hopeful of returning to number one before Pakistan play three Tests against the West Indies in October and November.
