The government has said the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme provides for opening one Navodaya Vidyalaya in each district.<br/><br/>Replying to a supplementary in Lok Sabha, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said 62 Navodaya Vidyalayas have been sanctioned including two additional for Andaman Nicobar islands.<br/><br/>She said Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has received 163 proposals for establishment of new Kendriya Vidyalayas, at vatrious places in the country.<br/><br/>The proposals for opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be considered only after their feasibility is established.
