<span style="color: #222222;">The WHO Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan has said, in India and several other developing countries, the incidence of nutrition deficiency is coming down and obesity going up. </span><br />” <br />” <span style="color: #222222;">Addressing a commemorative lecture in Chennai in honour of former Director General of ICMR, Dr Gopalan, she said, two thirds of the deaths among children under five years of age is attributed to the twin challenges of nutrition deficiency and obesity. She said the nutrition situation in India varies from state to state and therefore a nutrition policy incorporating such variations needs to be evolved.</span><br />
