<span style="color: #222222;">The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation,BMC said that the number of water borne diseases in the BMC area has come down significantly this year.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In its recent report, the BMC said that there has been 83.60% reduction in the number of hepatitis patients and 68% reduction in the number of gastro patients in this year.The city civic body stated that it is due positive outcome of continuous public awareness campaigns undertaken during the period of Covid-19. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, the Public Health Department of BMC informed that a comparative study of the 11-month period from January to November found that cases of water born diseases including cases of Hepatitis A, E and gastrointestinal patients declined significantly as compared to last year.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">According to BMC statistics, during the period of 11 months from January to November 2019, there were 1,494 cases of Hypetitis A and E. Between January and November 2020, the same has come down to 245. In case of gastrointestinal patients the number was 7,247 in last year while there were only 2316 cases reported till November this year.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The BMC said it has been observing major decline on the waterborne diseases in the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation area since last six years.It said that  this year the reduction was significant due to proactive response by the citizens to civic body's effective public awareness campaigns about the prevention of Covid and cleanliness habits and consistent effort of maintaining  the quality level of driking water supplied to the city.</span><br />''
