Number of endangered Gangetic Dolphins increase to 671 in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, number of endangered Gangetic Dolphins has increased to 671. The announcement was made by the State Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the end of a three-day census drive which concluded on Sunday. AIR correspondent reports that World Wildlife Fund-India's headcount had put the number of river dolphins in the state at around 600 in 2005. Since then, no comprehensive census of the mammal was done.
