Number of Covid-19 infections cross 50-thousand mark in Tamil Nadu

<span style="color: #222222;">In Tamil Nadu, the number of Covid-19 infections has crossed the 50-thousand mark. With 2174 people confirmed positive today, the total number of affected people has risen to 50,193. The new cases include 1276 in Chennai, which carries the maximum number of cases. 842 people were discharged from hospitals in the last 24-hours leaving the active caseload at 21,990. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Forty eight people succumbed to the disease including a senior private secretary in the state chief minister's office and the fatality has mounted to 576. Meanwhile, in his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has highlighted the special measures being undertaken to control the Covid19 spread. He informed about the impending 12-day full lockdown in Chennai and its suburbs from coming Friday. </span><br />'' <br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, during the interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has sought more central funds, grants and food grains allocation. He asked for a thousand crore rupees refinance package from the Small Industries Development Bank of India to the state Industrial Investment Corporation to help revive the micro, small and medium enterprises.
