<span style="color: #222222;">In a relief to Mumbaikars, the number of Coronavirus cases, which had risen sharply in the city after mid-February, is now on the decline. The number of cases, which had reached 8,000 to 11,000 daily, has now dropped to around 2,500. On the other hand, the number of patients recovering daily is also increasing and 5000-5500 patients are recovering and returning home every day. Over two lakh patients have recovered from the infection in the past month. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Due to strict restrictions, effective measures, vaccination campaign and strict enforcement of the rules, the number of patients has started declining. Even so, the Supreme Court also praised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for its handling of the COVID-19 situation in Mumbai. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, vaccination of people above 45 years resumed at BMC and government vaccination centres today as the civic body received a fresh stock of one lakh COVID vaccine doses last night. Also, despite appeals from the BMC to use masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, many citizens are still found to be flouting the rules. Citizens who are found without wearing masks are being prosecuted by the civic body, clean-up marshals and police. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The municipal administration said, so far, a total of 26,87,339 citizens have been prosecuted and fines of over Rs 54 crore 13 lakh have been recovered.</span><br />''  <br />
