Number of AIDS cases fall in Haryana: Health Minister

In Haryana, the number of AIDS cases is declining. In his message issued on the eve of World AIDS Day, Haryana Health Minister, Rao Narender said that the number of such cases has declined from 275 in 2008 to 229 in 2009 and further came down to 181 in 2010.He said that HIV prevalence among pregnant women is stable at 0.13 per cent and similarly, among blood donors is also low and stable at 0.2 per cent for the last two years. Minister said HIV prevalence among high risk groups like female sex workers and intra venus drug users is moderate at 2 percent.He said that there are about 20500 HIV positive patients in the state which have been detected at various Integrated Counseling and Testing Centres of Haryana.
