Eminent nuclear scientist Dr. Anil Kakodkar has expressed concern regarding the need for eco friendly waste -management and water quality and quantity, considering them as the biggest challenges for India. He was addressing a National Workshop and Exhibition held in Mumbai at BARC, regarding "DAE Clean Technologies for water purification, waste- management and thermal disposal". Stressing on the need of quality of the water he said, cleanliness of the water projects the cleanliness of surroundings.<br/><br/> He said , waste- management is crucial in reducing the stress on health. It is necessary to process the waste at the place of its origin to ensure proper bifurcation, which will reduce ill impact of such waste. <br/><br/> Dr. Kakodkar also called upon to avoid the use of chemical fertilizers and appealed to use organic fertilizers. He praised BARC's efforts to continue the tradition of cleanliness for years.<br/><br/> Dr. Kakodkar felicitated eight BARC employees for their efforts in the cleanliness drive.
