India today successfully launched in quick succession two Prithvi (P-II) surface to surface Missiles with a range of 350 kms . Prithvi missiles have already been inducted into the armed forces and today's launch was part of operational exercise. <br/><br/>According to Defence Ministry the two missiles which aimed at two different targets at 350 Kms from the launch point of the Interim Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in Balasore in Orissa at 10.30 this morning within minutes of each other met all the mission objectives. <br/><br/>Two Naval ships located at the targets, tracked and monitored both the missiles hitting the targets very accurately. All the Radars and other sensors along the East coast monitored the Missiles trajectory parameter.<br/> <br/>The nuclear capable Prithvi-II , the first missile developed under Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, has the capability to carry 500 Kg of warhead, has a length of nine metres with one metre diameter thrusted by Liquid propulsion twin engine. <br/><br/>It uses Advanced Inertial Guidance System with maneuvering trajectory and reaches the targets with few metre accuracy. Scientists from the Defence Research Development Organization supervised the test firing. <br/><br/>
