NSG reaffirms support to India’s N-cooperation

The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) has reaffirmed support to the implementation of the Statement on Civil Nuclear Cooperation with India, in view to New Delhi's actions to adhere to NSG guidelines and voluntary commitments. Officials, accompanying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the G-20 Summit in Toronto, Canada said in Frankfurt that the 46-nation nuclear watchdog at its 20th Plenary Meeting took note of developments concerning non-NSG states and agreed on the value of ongoing consultation and transparency. <br/> <br/>The two-day Plenary meeting concluded at Christchurch in New Zealand yesterday. A Public Statement issued after the deliberations called on all States to exercise vigilance and make best efforts to ensure that none of their exports of goods or technologies contributed to nuclear weapons programmes. <br/> <br/>The members agreed to continue considering ways to further strengthen guidelines dealing with the transfer of enrichment and reprocessing technologies. India has been concerned on the proposed supply of two nuclear reactors by China to Pakistan, a non NSG member. The NSG agreed on the value of the ongoing consultation and transparency. <br/>
