In Nagaland, the 36 hour bandh called by NSCN(IM) on Wednesday paralyzed normal life in the state. All commercial establishments, markets and shops downed their shutters while schools remained closed and attendance in government offices was thin. Traffic in the capital town was also affected as few vehicles were seen plying on the road. Meanwhile, the state government has directed all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police to ensure Republic Day functions in all district head quarters and ADC Headquarters are held as scheduled. In a notification, state Chief Secretary Lalthara also appealed to the public to attend the Republic Day function assuring that government would take all possible measures to ensure the safety and free movement of people.
