The CBI has arrested former Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation's Managing Director Abhay Kumar Vajpayee, former DG Family Welfare, S P Ram and an owner of a private firm, Saurabh Jain, in connection with the NRHM scam.

The three have been named in the FIR for conspiring to illegally use the NRHM funds along with former BSP Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha.

The arrests came a day after senior UP Jal Nigam official, PK Jain was arrested in the multi-crore scam. The CBI has so far conducted raids at over 60 locations.

Earlier on Wednesday, the CBI had raided the residence of former UP Family Welfare Minister, Babu Singh Kushwaha in connection with the financial irregularities in the supply of medicines and medical equipment in the NRHM scam.

Irregularities were reported in the NRHM fund disbursed to Uttar Pradesh in 2011.

In November 2011, the Allahabad High Court directed the CBI to conduct an inquiry into the misuse of the NRHM funds in UP.

CBI has been probing irregularities in funds disbursed to 72 CMOs across the state.
