CBI today carried out searches at more than 60 places, including at the residence of former Minister of Uttar Pradesh Babu Singh Kushwaha in Lucknow in connection with irregularities in funds allocated to the National Rural Health Mission, NRHM.
The probe agency has also registered five new cases to investigate alleged irregularities.
Besides Lucknow, the places where the searches were being carried out include Delhi, Noida, Sonipat, Amethi and Ghazhiabad.
CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra told AIR that the cases were registered on 2nd of this month at a designated court in Lucknow after which CBI sought search warrants against the accused people.
AIR correspondent reports that the CBI had filed FIRs pertaining to the scam.
Kushwaha has been named as an accused in one of the five FIRs registered against the NRHM officials and private companies in Uttar Pradesh.
