The government is promoting the use of bio-fertilizers through a central sector scheme National Project on Organic Farming, NPOF.

The NPOF scheme is for setting up of new or strengthening of existing bio-fertilizers production units, technology transfer and training. This was informed by Minister of State for Agriculture.

Harish Rawat in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. He said awareness creation activities on use of bio-fertilizer is being addressed through training programme, seminar and practices for different crops under organic management.

Mr. Rawat said that from 2006 to 2012, a total 386 demonstrations were conducted on various crops in different States.
