NPF suspends MLA Imkong L Imchen

The Naga People's Front (NPF) of Nagaland has suspended sitting MLA from Koridang Assembly Constituency Imkong L Imchen, from active and primary membership of the NPF with immediate effect. The order of suspension was issued by the President NPF, Dr. Sh'rhozelie Liezietsu. The order stated that the suspended MLA's activities in the recent past have been "adversely affecting the fragile nature of the reconciliation process as well as mutilating the hard earned unity within the party."<br/> <br/>To this effect, Imchen had been issued a show-cause notice by the Party in February this year, to which he had responded the same month. As per the NPF, the response lacked effective explanation contained in the show cause notice. The Disciplinary Action Committee of the NPF during its sitting held in March last month made a recommendation for Imchen's suspension from the primary and active membership of the Party after proper application of mind on the matter.<br/> <br/>Meanwhile, reacting to his suspension Mr.Imchen said that the action against him is most unfortunate. Mr. Imchen joined NPF in 2002 and considered to be the senior most NPF leader. He earlier held the portfolios of Home, Medical and Education.
