<span style="color: #222222;">Today is World Environment Day. The day was started by the UN in 1972 to mark the beginning of the Stokholm Environment Summit. This year's theme for the day this year is "Time For Nature".</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In connection with this, a 230 crore Noyyal river rejuvenation scheme was inaugurated in Coimbatore Tamilnadu by State Minister Shri S P Velumani.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The 180 km long tributary of the Cauvery River, arises in the Veliangiri foothills of the Western Ghats and ends in the Noyyal village in Karur district. It provides water for 32 tanks in the three districts of Coimbatore, Tirupur and Karur.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The scheme envisages cleaning up the river, clearing it of predominantly plastic waste and weeds,building and strengthening embankments etc.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Shri Rajamani, District Collector, Coimbatore and others participated in the colourful function.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In another function held at the Environment Information System (Envis) attached to the Ministry of Forests, Environment and Climste Change in the Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB) in Coimbatore, a digital interaction on Time for Nature, this year"s theme was held.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A song, an invocation on Nature, in Sanskrit language and is based on the Yajur Veda, was also released at the function.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">This UNO recognised song  has been composed in three popular ragas of Carnatic Music by Dr Kannan Warrier of the IFGTB.</span><br />''
