In Australian Open, the year's first Grand Slam, defending champions and top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams advanced to the second round today. While Djokovic defeated Korea's Hyeon Chung, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4, Serena beat Italy's Camila Giorgi 6-4, 7-5.Kei Nishikori, Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska and Marin Cilic also progressed to the second round.India's Yuki Bhambri, however, bowed out in the opening round. He lost to world number six Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic, 5-7, 1-6, 2-6. World number three Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be seen in action later in the day.Sania Mirza will look to carry forward her sparkling run with Martina Hingis. The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair will play its first round match later in the tournament. Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Rohan Bopanna and Purav Raja, with their team-mates, will figure in the Men's Doubles.
