Last year's US open runner up Kei Nishikori of Japan and Spaniard David Ferrer, among the top 10 seed, have also moved to the next round today. In the Women's Singles event top seed Serena Williams will begin her campaign today. Earlier in the morning, Petra Kvitova of Czech and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus surged ahead in the second round.
