In Uttar Pradesh nominations for biennial elections for 10 Rajya Sabha seats from Members of Legislative Assembly began today with issuance of notification. The last date of the filing the nominations is March 19. The papers would be taken up for scrutiny on the March 20, while the last date for the withdrawal of names would be March 22.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that these seats are falling vacant as terms of the member’s ends on April 2. Election will be held on March 30.At present, five of the 10 Rajya Sabha seats which are falling vacant are held by the outgoing ruling party Bahujan Samaj Party, while two each are held by Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party and one by the Rashtriya Lok Dal.
