The Election Commission of India has today issued the notification for election of eleven Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh which will be vacated on 4th July. The release issued from the office of Chief Electoral Office said that 31st May will be last date for filing the nominations while voting will be held on June 11. The whole process is to be completed by June 13, 2016, the release said. Prominent among those who will be retiring on coming 4th July are Satish Chandra Mishra, Salim Ali Ansari, Narendra Kahsyap and Jugul Kishore of BSP, Vishwambhar Prasad Nishad and Smt Kanak Lata of SP, Satish Sharma of Congress and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi of BJP. Meanwhile the Election Commission has also issued notification for election of 16 Members of Legislative Council MLC seats of the state today. These seats of upper house of state legislature will be vacated on 6th July 2016. The last date for filing nomination is 31st May whereas the votes will be polled on 10th June.
