In Uttar Pradesh, notification for third phase of Lok Sabha polls for 12 constituencies including 4 reserved is being issued today. Polling will be held on April 24.
AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that the nomination process in constituencies of Hathras, Mathura, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Kannauj and Akbarpur begins today with the issuance of notification.
Process of withdrawal of candidature comes to an end this evening in 11 constituencies slated for polls on April 17 in the second phase of polls in the State. The constituencies are Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnore, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagger, Bulandshahr and Aligarh.
AIR correspondent reports that campaigning for first phase of elections in the state is getting momentum day by day. About 5 rallies are organised today in the constituencies going for poll on April 10. BJP leader Narendra Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav are scheduled to address election rallied today in different constituencies.
Modi is scheduled to addressing rallies at Baghpat and Amroha and Rahul Gandhi will address three rallies in Saharanpur, Moradabad and Ghaziabad constituencies. Akhilesh Yadav will also be addressing three rallies at Bulandshahar, Ghaziabad and Baghpat in favour of party candidates. A total of 154 candidates are in fray in the constituencies of Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnore, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagger, Bulandshahr and Aligarh. Maximum 24 candidates are in contest in Gautam Buddha Nagar constituency followed by 19 in Muzaffarnagar seat.
AIR correspondent reports that BJP, BSP, and SP have fielded their candidates in all constituencies and Congress has left four seats of Baghpat, Bijnore, Kairana and Bulandshahr to its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal. About 1 crore 70 lakhs voters will exercise their franchise in this phase and about 16,800 polling booths are being set up.
