Noted Violinist Prabhakar Jog to be conferred with Lata Mangeshkar Award

Noted Violinist and music composer Prabhakar Jog will be conferred with this year's 'Lata Mangeshkar Award for Lifetime Achievement in the field of Music' instituted by the Maharashtra government. The state Culture Minister Mr Vinod Tawade suggested Prabhakar Jog's name for the award. The award carries a cash reward of 5 lakh rupees, a citation, a trophy and a shawl. In his career spanning 60 years, Mr Prabhakar has given outstanding contribution to the Hindi as well as Marathi music industry. He had worked as music composer, music coordinator and violinist with many renowned music directors of old time including Madanmohan, S.D. Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Shankar-Jaikishan, O.P.Nayyar, Usha Khanna, Khayyam, Ravindra Jain, Jaidev. He was also very close associate of legendary Marathi music directors inlcuding Late Srinivas Khale, Late Sudhir Phadke and Hridaynath Mangeshkar among others. He has played as a song violinist for more than 85 Music directors.
