Eminent historian Basudev Chatterji, also the former chairman of Indian Council for Historical Research passed away in Guwahati yesterday.<br/><br/>Chatterji had been an academician and taught at St Stephen's College in Delhi, University of Hyderabad besides supervising undergraduates at the University of Cambridge.<br/><br/>He had also proposed for documenting histories both archival as well as non-archival materials such as church records, private letters of the Second World War period, oral histories, folktales and folk songs.
