Rajya Sabha MP and noted economist Arjun Sengupta is dead. The cremation will take place in New Delhi today. He was 73. Mr. Sengupta who had a very distinguist and multi-faceted career was the Member of the Planning Commission and headed National Commission for Enterprises in Unorganized Sector. The Vice President Mr. Hamid Ansari has offered condolence for his death. In his message, Mr. Ansari said that his report on unorganized sector is a guiding force to provided minimum social security for unorganised workers. His death has been widely mourned by industrial chambers and economists.
