Noted cancer specialist Dr. Saroj Gupta died in Kolkata today after prolonged illness. He was 80. <br/><br/>Dr.Gupta got Padmasree award in 1987 for his outstanding contribution in the medical field. The Vishwabharati University presented him Rabindra Puraskar in 1988. <br/><br/>Dr.Gupta became the sheriff of Kolkata in 1989. In 1973, he founded Cancer Research Hospital in West Bengal to treat poor and needy cancer patients.<br/><br/>
