In Kolkata the body of the noted author Sunil Gangopadhayay was consigned to flames at the Keoratala crematorium on Thursday afternoon. His body was kept at the Rabindra Sadan premises for public viewing where Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee, former Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacherjee and several distinguished persons from the field of literature, culture and politics paid floral tributes.AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that, large number of people bid a tearful farewell to one of their dearest poet and writer and joined in the last journey which reached to the crematorium via Anandabazar Patrika where he worked for several years and regional office of the Sahitya Academy.The legendary Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhayay died in Kolkata last Monday following cardiac arrest. He was 78. Sunil Gangopadhayay was the President of the Sahitya Academy at the time of his death.
