Not sent any report to Centre on Tamil Nadu political situation: Vidyasagar Rao

Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao's office has clarified that he has not sent any report to the Centre on the prevailing political situation in the state. Rejecting media reports, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Ramesh Chand Meena said in a statement that no report has either been sent to the Union Home Ministry or the President.

Political uncertainty continues in the state amidst the power tussle between the two warring factions of ruling AIADMK. Both sides – one led by care-taker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and other by party General Secretary and Chief Minister designate VK Sasikala – met the Governor and staked claim to form the new government. The Governor is, however, said to be considering various options on the issue.

Principal opposition DMK has asked the Governor to facilitate an open voting on the floor of the House to choose the next Chief Minister. AIR correspondent reports that the O Panneerselvam camp has said, the properties of the AIADMK will not be allowed to be controlled by any individuals.

Referring to Ms Sasikala's loyalists, he said efforts are being made to capture the party and power which he said he will not allow. On the other hand, Ms Sasikala's loyalists claim no one can harm the party and all hurdles will be overcome. The next move by the Governor holds the key for further unfolding of events in the state politics that remains to be fluid as of now.
