<span style="color: #222222;">The government today clarified that it is not intended to bring 'water' in the Concurrent List from the State List.<br />'' <br />'' Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh said in Rajya Sabha that subject of water was kept in the State List after detailed deliberations in the Constituent Assembly and Centre is of the view to continue with the present arrangement.<br />'' <br />'' He was replying on the calling attention on the need for completion of National Irrigation Projects to tackle emerging water crisis and to transfer 'water' to Concurrent List from State List.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister said, over 30 thousands crore rupees have been spent by the government for the water conservation and recharge of the ground water in the last five years.<br />'' <br />'' He called for collective efforts of the Centre and the States to tackle water issue in the country saying that it is global problem and India is also facing the heat.<br />'' <br />'' Responding to queries on Polavaram Project, he said, the Centre is not releasing the funds for this national project due to non-receipt of audited reports.<br />'' <br />'' He said, audit reports for the three thousands crore rupees have been received so far from the State government. He also reiterated the NDA government commitment to provide piped drinking water to every household in the coming years.<br />'' <br />'' Earlier, moving the motion, Dr. KVP Ramchandra Rao of Congress expressed concern over the current water crisis in the country.<br />'' <br />'' He said, inter-state issues, land acquisition and fund crisis are hampering the progress of National Irrigation Projects. He demanded that water should be brought in the Concurrent List so that Centre and States can work together.<br />'' <br />'' Ashok Siddharth of BSP said, there is a need to revive the old methods of irrigations in the country and to frame dedicated policy for the water conservation.<br />'' <br />'' K.K. Ragesh of CPI(M) pointed out the inter-state water disputes and suggested that local water bodies must be preserved. RCP Singh of JD(U) raised the issue of pending water projects in Bihar and Jharkhand while Manoj Jha of RJD drew the attention of the House towards the problems being faced by the people in Kosi region of Bihar every year due to floods.<br />'' <br />'' Navaneethakrishnan of AIADMK said, there is no need to change the present system and water should remain in the State List.<br />'' <br />'' Vijay Sai Reddy of YSR Congress demanded that 16 thousands crore rupees must be released to the State government so that resettlement of people can be done. G.V.L. Narshima Rao of BJP demanded early completion of Polavaram Project.<br />'' <br />'' Prashant Nanda of BJD, Madhusudan Mistri of Congress, C.M. Ramesh of BJP, T. Subbarami Reddy of Congress, M. Nadimul Haque of TMC and others also participated in the discussion.</span> <br />
