Not abandoning operation to save 15 miners trapped in Meghalaya rat-hole mine: Centre tells SC

The Centre today told the Supreme Court that it is not abandoning the operation to rescue 15 miners trapped a rat-hole coal mine in Meghalaya. It has been more than a month since the miners got trapped in the mine filled with water in a remote part of the state. <br />'' <br />''Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said both the Centre and the state government are not abandoning the operation and are taking measures to rescue the miners.<br />'' <br />''The state government submitted a status report detailing the steps taken to rescue the miners from 7th to 17th January.<br />'' <br />''A bench of justices A K Sikri and S Abdul Nazeer said the Centre and the state should look into the suggestions made by the petitioner with regard to the rescue operation and posted the matter for further hearing next week.<br />''<br />
