Northern India witness above normal temperature

It was a hot day in northern India as temperatures stayed above normal. Churu and Barmer in Rajasthan registered highs of 41.8 degree celsius. The Met department said Kota was 40.5, Jodhpur 40.2, while Sriganganagar recorded 40 degrees respectively.<br/>In the national capital, mercury peaked to a maximum of 38.7 degrees, the third highest day temperature in the month of April for the past 10 years.<br/>Today's maximum temperature was four degrees above normal for this point of time of the year. The minimum was recorded at 23.2 degrees, five notches above normal.<br/>In Punjab and Haryana, residents had no respite from the heat as maximum temperatures continued to hover 4-6 degrees above usual for this time of the year.<br/>Hisar was the hottest at 40.2 degrees, six degrees above normal, while Karnal saw the mercury touch 38.<br/>In Punjab, Patiala had a maximum of 38.6 degrees, six marks above normal.<br/>In Himachal Pradesh, day temperatures stayed above normal with the Queen of the Hills experiencing a high of 23.6 degrees.<br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, the winter capital was the hottest city with the mercury settling at of 35.8 degrees, six notches above normal.<br/>Srinagar experienced a daytime temperature of 18.4 degrees, one mark above normal. Leh continued to experience severe cold wave conditions with maximum of 12 degree celsius and minimum of minus 0.4 degree celsius.<br/>
