<span style="color: black;">Northeast Monsoon in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry is set to continue at least till the 4th of January, as said in a release by the India Meteorological Centre in Chennai. It says several areas in the state may witness light to moderate rain till the date. During the last twenty-four hours, Kollidam in Nagappattinam and Periya Kalapet in Puducherry have recorded a maximum of nine centimeters of rain. Normally, the Northeast Monsoon begins in October and gets over by the end of December.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, Deputy Director General of the India Meteorological Department in Chennai, Dr Balachandran told reporters today that the rainfall during the Northeast Monsoon so far has been 45.47 centimetres, which is about two centimetres more than the normal average. However, he said, when the rainfall for the whole calendar year is taken up, it shows a deficit of four per cent with the total rainfall of 94.30 centimetres.</span><br />
