South Korea has in principle accepted a North Korean offer to resume talks about reuniting of families divided since the Korean War ended in 1953. A spokeswoman for South Korea's unification ministry, was quoted as saying that a date and venue for talks mediated by the Red Cross would be set after resumed military talks have ended. The talks which began yesterday are the first since the North shelled a South Korean island in November, killing four people.
