North Korea to participate in upcoming Winter Olympics in South Korea

North Korea will send a delegation to the Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea next month. <br/><br/>The announcement came as the two Koreas met for their first high-level talks in more than two years at Panmunjom peace village in the demilitarized zone at the border. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting, South Korea's Vice Unification Minster Chun Hae-Sung said, Pyongyang has proposed to send a high-level delegation, comprising athletes, supporters, art performers, observers and journalists, to the Games. A desk report:<br/><br/>Meanwhile, South Korea's Foreign Ministry spokesman Roh Kyu-deok has said, his country will consider a temporary lifting of sanctions against North Korea if it is necessary to facilitate the visit of North Koreans to the Winter Olympics. <br/><br/>South Korea has unilaterally banned several North Korean officials from entering the country in response to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests.
