North India shivers under intense cold

North India is again in the grip of intense cold wave. Death toll in the region due to severe cold has risen to 408 this season. All the 23 fresh deaths were reported from Uttar Pradesh, which alone accounted for 379 casualties so far. Poor visibility due to fog led to a train accident yesterday morning in Tundla in which three persons were killed and 14 others wounded.<br/>AIR correspondent reports that a number of domestic flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi were cancelled and international flights delayed.<br/> In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, intense cold is back with the drop in temperature at various places. Foggy weather conditions have affected flight operations in Chandigarh. Our correspondent reports that Jet Airways has suspended all its flights operating from Chandigarh till tomorrow.<br/>Cold conditions affected normal life in Rajasthan with Mount Abu being the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius.<br/>The weather improved further in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh and Shimla recorded a night temperature of 8 deg C, a sharp rise from 4.5 deg C.
