Severe clod conditions and fog has intensified in North India. In Delhi, thick blanket continued to engulf the capital disrupting as many as 30 flights today. Rail traffic was also disrupted.<br/><br/>The heavy fog remained throughout the night and the visibility was down to less than 50 metres at 5.30 am this morning. The condition improved marginally and the visibility rose to 100 metres at 10.30 am.<br/><br/>The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.7 degrees Celsius. The Met department attributed the cold wave spell to the icy winds blowing from the snow-capped mountains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.<br/><br/>The weatherman predicted that there will be thick fog in the morning and mainly clear sky in the day tomorrow while temperature will oscillate between six and 20 degrees Celsius.<br/><br/>In Punjab and Haryana also severe cold conditions prevailed. However, People of Jammu had some relief from biting cold this morning as night temperature increased by few notches.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh the cold wave is continuing unabated as 36 more people have succumbed to severe cold. With this the death toll in the current season has gone up to 500. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that while the night temperature has been recorded one to two degrees above normal, the day’s temperature stood at 7 to 10 degrees Celsius below normal across the state. The chilly wind has forced the people to remain indoors.
