North India is again in the grip of intense cold wave. Death toll in the region due to severe cold has risen to 408 this season. All the 23 fresh deaths were reported from Uttar Pradesh, which alone accounted for 379 casualties so far. Poor visibility due to fog led to a train accident yesterday morning in Tundla in which three persons were killed and 14 others wounded.<br/>AIR correspondent reports that a number of domestic flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi were cancelled and international flights delayed.<br/> In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, intense cold is back with the drop in temperature at various places. Foggy weather conditions have affected flight operations in Chandigarh. Our correspondent reports that Jet Airways has suspended all its flights operating from Chandigarh till tomorrow.<br/>Cold conditions affected normal life in Rajasthan with Mount Abu being the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius.<br/>The weather improved further in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh and Shimla recorded a night temperature of 8 deg C, a sharp rise from 4.5 deg C.<br/>In Delhi, there was no respite from cold wave conditions and heavy fog for the residents of the city as a thick blanket continued to engulf the capital disrupting as many as 30 flights today. Rail traffic was also disrupted.<br/><br/>The heavy fog remained throughout the night and the visibility was down to less than 50 metres at 5.30 am this morning. The condition improved marginally and the visibility rose to 100 metres at 10.30 am.<br/><br/>The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.7 degrees Celsius. The Met department attributed the cold wave spell to the icy winds blowing from the snow-capped mountains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.<br/><br/>The weatherman predicted that there will be thick fog in the morning and mainly clear sky in the day tomorrow while temperature will oscillate between six and 20 degrees Celsius.
