Most parts of northern India, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Parts of Rajasthan are reeling under cold wave conditions.
Delhiites experienced the coldest day of this winter as mercury slipped below five degree Celsius and the chill is expected to persist in the next couple of days. The minimum temperature recorded was at 4.7 degree Celsius, four notches below normal and the maximum 21.7 degrees celsius.
Adampur in Punjab recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the plains at 1.3 Degree Celsius. The MET office said cold wave conditions were likely to continue over the next 48 hours in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Director of the India Metrological Department Dr. B.P. Yadav said a slight rise in temperature was expected from Monday because of the western disturbances.
In Uttar Pradesh, minimum temperature has dropped to 5 degrees at several places while the maximum temperature is hovering between 16 to 20 degrees Celsius.
In Uttarakhand, cold conditions intensified following the snowfall at higher reaches.
