Severe cold and dense fog has affected normal life in most parts of North India. The Jammu city recorded the seasons' lowest temperature of 0.5 degree Celsius this morning while it was 2.2 degree Celsius yesterday. Punjab and Haryana also reeled under freezing cold conditions with the mercury hovering well below normal level in most areas even as a thick cover of fog engulfed the region<br/>In Himachal Pradesh, the minimum temperature continues to decrease in plain areas despite of the clear weather. <br/><br/>Chilly weather conditions continue to prevail in Delhi. Though there was a rise in minimum temperature in Delhi from yesterday's 4.2 degree Celsius to 7.5 degree Celsius, cold winds lent a chill in the air. The maximum temperature stood at 16.3 degrees celsius. Dense fog engulfed the national capital in the morning, disrupting flight operations and leading to cancellation of 50 Delhi-bound trains. <br/><br/>In West Bengal, the mercury touched down to the lowest in this winter triggering a cold wave in Kolkata and the districts today. AIR correspondent reports this was the coldest day of the season which severely affected the flight and train schedules.
