Rains have lashed several parts of North India. Most parts of Punjab and Haryana were lashed by widespread rain resulting in the day temperatures settling two to eight degree below normal in the region.A child died due to roof collapse due to rains at Sangrur district in Punjab.In Uttarakhand, Yamunotri and Kedarnath shrine yatra route has been blocked following the land slides.In Uttar Pradesh, water level of major rivers, including the Ganga, Ghaghara, Rapti and Burhi Gandak, has started rising due to heavy rain in their catchments. Five people have died in rain related incidents in Kanpur and Ghazipur districts during past 24 hours.In Bihar, several rivers are flowing above the danger mark following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas in Nepal. AIR Patna correspondent reports that Kosi, Bagmati, Mahananda and Burhi Gandak are flowing above danger marks.In Assam also, most of the major rivers in the state are flowing near the Danger level mark. If rain continues, these rivers may cross the danger mark. The Dhansiri River at Numaligarh in Golaghat district still flowing above the Danger level. Over 100 families were displaced following inundation due to heavy monsoon shower over last two days in Tripua. Met officials in Agartala today forecast widespread isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over sub-Himalayan region and northeastern states including Tripura in next 48 hours.With incessant rain, low-lying areas of Agartala got submerged throwing traffic movements out of gear.Reports from other parts of the state said the heavy rain coupled with storm has upset the normal life. There are reports of damages to paddy and summer vegetables due to inundation. The authority had pressed boats into service in Agartala and other town areas and asked flood management officials to keep a close watch on the rise of water level in rivers and their embankments.
