Cold wave conditions remained unabated in most parts of North India. <br/><br/>Tightening its grip, mercury registered a sharp drop in Jammu and Kashmir. The minimum temperature in Leh slipped to minus 15 degree Celsius while it dipped to minus 14.8 in Kargil.<br/><br/>Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh continue to remain under sub-zero temperature while cold wind lashed Shimla. Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti districts was the clodest place with night temperature of minimum 10.3 degree celsius. Cold conditions gave shivering spells to people in Rajasthan as Mount Abu and Churu recorded the lowest temperature of 2 and 3.8 degree Celsius.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, normal life has been paralysed because of cold wave conditions. Light showers lashed several parts of the state during the 24 hours. Thick fog engulfed eastern Uttar Pradesh. AIR correspondent reports that three persons have died in eastern districts.With this the toll in the current season has reached to 14. <br/><br/>The Met department has predicted a comparatively warmer New Year eve in the national capital with minimum and maximum temperature is expected to hover around 7 and 21 degree Celsius. A thin layer of fog engulfed the city in the morning but there was no disruption in flights at the airport.
