North India gets colder

Cold wave has further intensifies in North India.

Delhi continued to reel under intense cold with a minimum temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius—four notches below normal.

Cold wave sweeping Punjab and Haryana claimed two lives, a woman and an elderly man. Amritsar in Punjab shivered as the minimum temperature touched minus 1.2 degree C. In Haryana, Hisar recorded a low of 0.2 degree C.

There is no let up in the cold wave sweeping the Kashmir Valley with the mercury in Srinagar plummeting to minus 4.9 degrees, the season's lowest.

In Rajasthan, Churu remained the coldest zone recording a minimum temperature of minus 0.7 degree Celsius.

Cold wave conditions prevailed in many parts of Uttar Pradesh with Kanpur recording 0.5 degrees Celsius, eight notches below normal.

The intense cold wave sweeping across Himachal Pradesh intensified as mercury further dipped in different parts of the state. Solan was coldest with a minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degrees, three notches below normal.
