Several parts of north India reeled under intense heat wave conditions with mercury breaching 44 degree Celsius in several parts of the region yesterday.
Sizzling temperatures coupled with hot winds made life miserable for people of Uttar Pradesh with Ballia recording a high of 44.5 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Amritsar sweltered at 46.6 degree Celsius. In Haryana, Hisar sizzled at 44 degree Celsius. Chandigarh recorded 42.3 degrees Celsius, up by three notches.
The capital Delhi recorded a high of 43.2 degrees Celsius, four degree above normal. Heat wave also swept parts of Rajasthan where Sriganganagar remained the hottest place with a maximum of 44.8 degrees Celsius.
