North India continues to reel under heat wave

Heat wave continues unabated in North India and there seems to be no respite for Delhiites the next five six days. The much awaited south-west monsoon may not reach the national capital Delhi on Friday as predicted by the Met office earlier.

Director, Met department, Dr R.C. Vashisth told AIR News that there will be no monsoon rains in the next five to six days in the capital. He said that it is due to a developing weather phenomenon which has stopped monsoon winds from advancing over Delhi and its adjoining areas in North-West India.

In Delhi, maximum temperature was recorded at 40.6 deg Celcius today,which is three degrees above normal.

Though, some parts of Uttar Pradesh witnessed light to moderate rain and thundershowers, unrelenting heat wave continued across the state .Etawah recored Highest maximum temperature of the state at 44.6 degrees Celsius .Met department has forecast that severe heat wave conditions would continue to prevail over many places in the state during the next 48 hours.

In Rajasthan Churu sizzled at 41.4 degrees Celsius today. According to Met department the maximum day temperature in SriGanganagar settled at 40.9 degrees Celsius.

In Himachal pradesh Marginal fluctuation was witnessed
in the temperatures at some place but there was no major change in the minimum and maximum temperatures across the state. Una was hottest in the region with the maximum temperature at 39.8 degree Celsius, The local MeT office has predicted rains or thunder showers at a few places during the next 24 hours.
