With an increase in the minimum temperature in both Punjab and Haryana, there is some relief from the cold during day. However, temperature during early morning and late evenings remains low. Adampur recorded a minimum temperature of 3.1 degree celsius and Narnaul in Haryana a minimum of 3.3 degree celsius continue to be the two coldest places in this part of the region. Amritsar recorded a minimum of 3.4 and Ludhiana 3.7 degree celsius. Chandigarh recorded 6 degree celsius. AIR Jalandhar correspondent reports, according to the met department the increase in minimum temperature is due to moisture in the air. The cold wave has intensified in the national capital with temperatures continuing to fall. The Minimum temperature this morning was 6.4 degree celsius, two degrees below normal while the maximum settled a notch above normal at 24.4 degree celsius. The Met department predicts the fall in mercury to continue in the coming days. Our Correspondent reports that today the maximum and minimum temperature will be around 24 and seven degrees.AIR correspondent Sumita Yadav reports that with slight fog engulfing the city early in the morning and chily winds blowing during the day, the winter has totally set-in in the capital. Delhites should gear up for a harsh winter this season with the MET department predicting a further fall in temperatures. The city had already recorded the coldest day of this season on Wednesday when the mercury plummeted to 5.2 degrees. Although dense fog is yet to engulf the capital as the slight mist in the morning gives way to bright sunny days, the weathermen expect the foggy days are not far away. In Uttarkhand cold wave conditions continues, with sky remaining clear through out the day across the state today. However, the evenings are chilly with temperatures dipping. Met department predicts that cold conditions may intensify in some areas of the state in next twenty four hours. AIR correspondent Raghwesh Pandey reports from Dehradun that the sky remained clear and sun shone bright in the day across the state. People are getting relief during daytime preferring to be in the sun. However, people are facing problems in the morning and evening hours in major parts of the state, when chilly conditions prevail and they are compelled to remain in houses. Meanwhile fog and frost have affected the normal life in some Tarai and hilly areas of the state especially in Nainital, Dehradun, Haridwar and Udhamsingh Nagar. According to northern Railway, Janta Express from Dehradun to Varanasi and Ujjaini Express are suspended from today for the month in view of fogy weather. Director Met department Anand Sharma predicts that cloudy sky at few places and snowfall may occur in higher reaches of the state in coming twenty four hours.
