The Lok Sabha today passed the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Amendment Bill, 2011. It was piloted by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
After its introduction in December 2011, the Bill was referred to the Standing Committee on Home Affairs on 13th January 2012.

The Bill amends the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971 to establish a common cadre of the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Police Service, and the Indian Forest Service for Manipur and Tripura. Now Manipur and Tripura will have their own cadres of the three all- India Services.
