The situation in violence affected Chirang district of Assam is limping back to normal as no untoward incident has been reported during the last 48 hours. The indefinite curfew, however, continued in the district as a precautionary measure. Official sources said, security forces apprehended 55 miscreants in Chirang district during the past 24 hours. A four member team of National Human Rights Commission reached Kokrajhar last evening to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken at relief camps. The Group of Ministers will also visit the relief camps from today in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri istricts. Security has been intensified by the army, Para military forces and Assam police.Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi instructed the health department to set up separate camps for pregnant women and children and to provide them nutritional food. So far 95 relief camps have been closed and around 1 lakh 12 thousand people have returned to their villages.
